London denounces Khrushchev for calling Burmese savages during his southern Asia visit. This marks the second foreign office rebuke in a week as officials dismiss the Soviet leader’s imperialism critique as hypocritical.
Paris Reuters Edgar Faure premier without a party issues a decree dissolving the National Assembly and foiling last minute efforts to reform electoral law. Faure faces expulsion from the Radical Socialist party and vows to appeal. Five ministers resign as the government stays in place for the forthcoming general election.

Bow Island voters approved forming the Bow Island Municipal District Hospital plan 487 to 40 with 13 spoiled ballots. The district will cover Bow Island Foremost Burdet t and parts of MD 40 Mile No 2 and will provide group hospitalization on a 1 dollar per day ward basis with contracts to Lethbridge Taber and Medicine Hat hospitals. The plan does not authorize new construction but keeps a future door open for a hospital.

President Eisenhower sent a third appeal through diplomatic channels asking Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek not to sabotage Canada's plan to admit 18 countries including Outer Mongolia by vetoing its membership. Chinese delegate Tsiang prepared to speak as Canada’s health minister Paul Martin urged adoption of the resolution. The 24 hour Safe Driving Day marked by Canadian fatalities, including Leta Top and Earl Black, was noted.
In Western Roundup Edmonton reports 11 720 failures among 36 544 driving tests from Jan 1 to Nov 26 this year. Failures stem from correctable faults, with glasses or extra study of traffic laws advised and a second examination available. The Canadian Press reports four deaths occurred during Canada's Safe Driving Day 24 hour campaign ending at midnight Thursday with three in Ontario and one in Nova Scotia. Early surveys suggested overall accidents may be below the 24 hour average.
An Associated Press survey shows 69 traffic deaths on Safe Driving Day, matching a prior Thursday total and far above last year’s 51. The National Safety Council also logged 67 deaths at the same time.
