London notes the vessel Wilson Nner Marengo is stranded on Goodwin Sands and aid is en route from New York to Hull.
London reports to the Board of Trade that in November 53 British steamers totaling 61,072 tons were sunk with 464 lives lost. Thirty five sailing vessels of 4,977 tons also were lost with six lives. Only about 20 steamers fell to warships, ten to mines, with 445 steamers sunk by warships accounting for most fatalities.
London December 2 The Daily News reports a Unionist meeting chaired by Lord Charles Beresford to found a new national party in Parliament with Sir Edward Carson as leader. Beresford and Carson spoke with Liberals Harry Dalziel and Sir Arthur Markham as others were approached.
A full rehearsal for The Gondoliers is set for ten o'clock tonight in the Empress theatre. The event invites cast and crew to prepare for evening performances, with attendance expected from local theatre enthusiasts.
