Medicine Hat tops province for low wage earners study says

A Public Interest Alberta report finds Medicine Hat has the highest share of low wage workers in Alberta. About 9 000 residents earn under 13 per hour while 51 percent of full time workers aged 25 to 44 make less than 15 per hour. The study links poverty to high single parent use and women comprising most low wage earners, with only 9 percent under 20.

Medicine Hat buyer buys historic Kitchener School for home

Greg Anderson and wife Tracy, accountants from Grande Prairie, bought the 1916 Earl Kitchener School in Medicine Hat for 675000. They plan to renovate the 17000 square foot brick building on a 1.25 acre lot into a family home while preserving the exterior. They aim to live in the downtown area long term and discuss phased upgrades including basement gym and second floor living space. Sale closed August 22. details kept private.
