Tomato Fight Colors Bunyol in La Tomatina Festival

About 20 000 people pelted each other with overripe tomatoes in Bunyol Spain turning the main square into a red pool during La Tomatina. Four 25 tonne truckloads of tomatoes were used in the hour long frenzy as festival spokeswoman Minerva Gonzalez notes. The town of 10 000 honors its patron saint San Luis annually since the Middle Ages and added the tomato throwing in the mid 1950s.

The Medicine Hat News will switch to a compact two-tier page design on Friday, trimming 1.5 inches from the height while preserving depth. The change follows reader feedback for easier handling and aims to curb rising newsprint costs with a 620000 capital investment for better color photos and a five to ten column layout across 17 daily papers including the Toronto Star and Regina Leader-Post.

Judge addresses Bernardo jury as deliberations near

In Toronto the judge at Paul Bernardo's murder trial instructs jurors on their duties as they near the end of a three month trial.
