Toronto Toros sign 18 year old Wayne Dillon to three year deal

TORONTO TOROS announce the signing of 18 year old Wayne Dillon a center to a three year WHA contract. Dillon joins fellow junior to pro moves as Mark and Marty Howe join Houston Aeros and Tom Edur signs with Cleveland Crusaders. Dillon led the Marlboros with 107 points last season while living at home and finishing high school. Broughton Wins Unanimous 10 Round Nod In Halifax Title Picture

Gary Broughton of Brantford Ontario defeated Joey Durelle of Sorel Quebec by unanimous decision after 10 rounds in Halifax to press his claim at the Canadian middleweight title held by Davey Downey of Halifax. Both veterans were rocked with no knockdowns, Durelle bleeding from the nose and cut over an eye, while Broughton also suffered a cut near his left eye. Downey’s camp has not yet signaled a possible rubber match despite two prior title bouts between Broughton and Downey.

Local Tennis Tournament Planned at Hill Recreation Centre

A tennis tournament is planned for September 7 to 9 at the Hill Recreation Centre with an entry fee of fifty cents per person. Hill Lawn Bowling Club Hosts 43rd Southern Alberta Tourney
