New beverage container return rules take effect January 1 1973
Environment minister W. J. Yorke announced a province wide system for returning beverage containers starting January 1 1973. All retailers selling soft drinks become universal depots accepting refillable bottles for refunds with a one cent handling charge paid by manufacturers. French language losing ground in Canada outside Quebec
