Tom Murray of the Kiwanis Club and Sen F W Gershaw unveiled a plaque in the 300 block on Eighth St Southwest commemorating the city’s cleanest and best kept block for 1957. The Kiwanis yearly award was presented with remarks by Alderman Ey Heckbert and Sen Gershaw.

After months of talks and hearings Premier Manning approved a restricted export permit enabling Saskatchewan Power Corporation to transmit gas from the eastern holdings of Britalta Corporation while the western portion west of Range 4 is excluded. Medicine Hat city council backed the move with a bid of 10 million dollars for 100 billion cubic feet to be delivered over a year, contingent on Britalta accepting the city’s terms.
