The Medicine Hat News ups its subscription rates effective November 4 due to higher newsprint and production costs. Home delivery in the city rises to 1.50 per week with carriers receiving 3.2 cents of the increase. The single copy price stays 30 cents Monday through Thursday and 50 cents on Friday and Saturday.

Babies Sold Scam Ties San Diego Pair to Nationwide Ring

Two women from San Ysidro Calif were charged with selling about 200 Mexican babies to U S couples for up to 10000 each. Authorities say the ring sold infants to couples from California to New York over the last two years. The pair was ordered held without bail pending a detention hearing.
