An informed Lethbridge source says Alberta Western Beef plans a plant reopening within two weeks with a target date to be announced soon. Earlier reports indicated operation within 70 days, with minor financial issues seen as solvable and no obstacle foreseen to reopening this fall.
Dissatisfaction in Red Deer with the Prairie Fairs Association midway circulates, while Medicine Hat Stampede Company officials argue not all concerns are shared. Medicine Hat Exhibitions and Stampede Company management comment on the matter.

Anti-British demonstrations flare in Beijing as over 1,000 Red Guards march before the diplomatic bloc housing the British mission. About 100 soldiers block entry to the diplomat's apartment, per Tanjug reports.
In Huron Ohio the national safety transportation board seeks to confirm if a radar fix given by a federal agency to the plane carrying 18 sky divers who bailed into Lake Erie was accurate. In Overton New York a bank manager and two tellers were slain during a vault holdup. a 24 year old man was charged with murder and robbery. In Toronto Yukon MP Erik Nielsen says he is not campaigning for Opposition Leader John Diefenbaker and would decide if Diefenbaker enters the race.
Prairie wheat harvest offsets earlier drought fears with totals near average. Canadian survey estimates 527 million bushels, with Saskatchewan 313 million, Manitoba 85 million, Alberta 129 million. Harvesting rapid in most districts, some areas near finish while Peace River slows. Weather saved Saskatchewan, though Peace River barley and early oats face uneven progress.
Zambia sent a note to Britain urging action against a South African intrusion into Rhodesia. Officials said Pretoria was aiding Rhodesian forces against Negro guerrillas in western Rhodesia. Britain returned the note as from an illegitimate regime, while Zambia insisted force may end the rebellion and racism in Rhodesia.
In Culpeper Virginia on Tuesday George Lincoln Rockwell leader of the American Nazi party faced a day of spectacle as Army officials barred burial in Culpeper National Cemetery or any U S military cemetery. The hearse sat five hours at the gate while Nazi supporters jeered and shouted Heil Hitler before returning to Arlington to decide next steps.

The Public School Board discussed admission age rules on Tuesday night. It reviewed requests to admit six year olds born after December 31 and considered lowering age requirements to February 28. The board favored changing the rule while noting implications for testing, staff, and provincial grants. Dr. Reese said no current kindergarten policy or grants exist but kindergarten is desirable and will be introduced.
