W A Buchanan addresses the Liberal smoker as the Medicine Hat Fall Exhibition grows with new buildings and record horse entries. The Agricultural Society reports over three times as many exhibits versus last year, with three days of racing and a grand stand for a thousand spectators.
Hon C R Mitchell spoke at a Liberal smoker in committee rooms last evening. He outlined trade pact benefits for farmers and highlighted cattle trade statistics showing potential gains under reciprocity. He cited a 27 1 2 percent levy on Canadian steers over 14 dollars when shipped to Chicago markets.
Labor Day Sports prizes will be shown at H. W. Ireland's on Main Street starting tomorrow morning and continuing throughout the week. The collection is described as well worth seeing.
A Winnipeg Market discussion notes that small shipments avoid market glut and that free access to American markets could bring good prices for Canadian cattle.
