Boat-launching ramp planned for Medicine Hat river
The Chamber of Commerce recreation chairman Gordon Sissons seeks funds to build a city run boat launching ramp on the South Saskatchewan River. Current launch options are limited to the Trans-Canada Highway Bridge. A site between Division Ave and Police Point could be developed with low river levels. Estimated minimum cost is 300 to 400 dollars with about 200 letters sent for 5 dollar donations. If funds fall short, contributions will be returned though anyone may donate. Construction would occur at the river’s lowest level and could be asphalted later after use compacts the area. A potential site lies below the Medicine Hat Golf Course clubhouse where river levels are typically higher.
