Man 25 charged in knife incident in Regina

James Beka, 25, remanded to Sept. 25 on attempted murder charges after a stabbing at a Regina hotel beer parlor involving CNR postal clerk Edward Canhan. Canhan, 35, in hospital in serious condition but improving, intervened in a dispute. a stranger fled but was detained by staff and patrons. Police found a six inch sheath knife near the scene. Canhan is married with one child and works as a CNR postal clerk between Regina and Swan River.
