Vauxhall Farmers Organize as Board of Trade District

A federal meeting in the Vauxhall District last night at Staples Farm formed an active Board of Trade for the area. Medicine Hat merchants and the local Board of Trade attended. The group aims to unite nearly a hundred farmers, foster community spirit, and plan a winter drive to form stock, potato growers, and similar associations while improving schools, telephones, roads, and railway service.

Finlay Bridge Concreting Price Recommended

A city council committee proposes accepting H H Bateman's tender of 4700 dollars for Concreting the Finlay Bridge floor plus 1100 dollars for not closing the bridge, with cement and steel. A special committee will present the price to Bateman. if he refuses, the Public Works Department will do the work. Mayor Brown says the bridge will close for one day after each half of the work, ideally only on two Sundays.

A free clinic for children up to school age opens in Medicine Hat Alberta as part of Public Health. Local Farmer Threshed Experimental Wheat Plot

Mr J Swan harvested a small Wheat plot at Sixth Ave and First St. He sowed Bur bank’s Pearl on about one thirtieth of an acre. Birds ate about half the crop leaving him roughly a bushel for his share. He plans to sow again next year to produce more seed.

Protesting Ex-Servicemen Object to Barmaids in Liverpool

About 2,000 former service men in Liverpool protest the employment of barmaids in city hotels and pubs. A deputation to the Liverpool Brewers and Spirit Merchants Association warned that action would be taken if barmaids did not make way for service men. Liverpool employs about 2,600 barmaids.
