Mrs. Mary McEwen of Dauntless reports her son Private Kenneth Rodman Carr McEwen of the Infantry was admitted to No 4 Australian General Hospital on August 12 with shrapnel wounds to the arm and wrist. Lance Corporal A J Mathews and George Benjamin Mathews, son of Mrs E Mathews, are named among the recent losses, with Mathews dying of wounds at Alexandra Military Hospital Cosham after enlisting at age 16.

Seven Die After Steamship Explosion At Atlantic Port
Report from Atlantic Port says seven men were killed and several injured when a steam piper on an American transport exploded while docked. The vessel carried supplies and men bound for France and appeared near readiness to sail. The blast reportedly caused extensive damage to the ship and nearby facilities.

Businessmen Plan Largest District Trip By Car
