Mrs F J Marshall of Orangeville learned of the death of John Gillespie a longtime Amaranth pioneer aged 31 in West Broadway Orangeville after a heart ailment. He arrived with his family in Amaranth when only four families lived here and helped shape local politics as a two term councillor and eleven year reeve. He left a large family including three sons and five daughters and was a member of St Andrews Church and the Orange Order. Funeral today at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev A L Burch officiating.

A runaway incident yesterday near five o clock sent W Mitchell's buggy and a buggy from F B McKimm Store into a crash on South Railway Street. Mrs A T Terrill was thrown to the ground but not seriously hurt. Mr Mitchell and Mr Burt Sut were shaken and bruised as the two rigs collided near Johnston's livery barn.
