Lender who loaned to Stevens firms skipped credit check

Anton Czapka a Magna International executive testified that he did not require a credit check on Noreen Stevens and her two companies before lending 2.6 million dollars to York Centre Corp tied to former minister Sinclair Stevens. Altitude loss caused Seven Persons crash in Alberta

Pilot Arnold Graumans 23 was flying over the family farm to photograph the property for his visiting uncle from Holland when the Cessna 172 left Medicine Hat airport and crashed 2.4 kilometres northwest of Seven Persons at 3 30 p m. The aircraft rolled left and nosedived while avoiding power lines, with the cause of altitude loss still undetermined. Graumans is stable at Medicine Hat and District Hospital. Ken Laurenhauser is in fair condition, and two other passengers were treated and released. The aviation board will analyze the crash, with final conclusions months away and several other cases to review.
