Police responding to a towel theft at a Vancouver motel uncovered six one kilogram bricks of cocaine and $53,000 in cash. Three men, Francois Malouf, 47, Raymond Aoun, 40, and Jamal Ghoulam, 38, were charged with possession of cocaine for trafficking.
Scott Mataya a 27 year old nurse received a suspended sentence and a life ban from nursing after pleading guilty to administering potassium chloride to Joseph Sauder 78 who was dying after life support was removed at Wellesley Hospital Sauder died within an hour Justice Edward Wren said Mataya acted under stress and without a doctor order while the family had asked to end life support.
Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres said Israel is prepared to withdraw from parts of the Golan Heights in exchange for a peace treaty with Syria. He cited UN Resolution 242 and noted Israel would voice this at Middle East peace talks in Washington where talks resumed after Rabin’s election.
