Hitier kidnapping plan by RAF revealed in 1941 scheme

The Sunday Times reports that the Royal Air Force plotted to kidnap Adolf Hitler in 1941 after intelligence said Hitler's personal pilot Hans Baur might defect. Bulgarian Kiroff claimed to be related and suggested hijacking Hitler to Britain. Declassified documents at the Public Record Office detail the scheme.

Man dies after four transplants in Ottawa hospital

A 25 year old British Columbia man died after a three month struggle that included four heart transplants, two artificial hearts, and pneumonia. After a May 19 artificial heart, a May 24 human heart was rejected, a May 28 second transplant followed, and the patient died after 12 weeks of recovery.

Court stirs accord talks as Supreme Court backs Yukon rights

In Ottawa the Supreme Court of Canada endorsed a Canadian Bar Association proposal to amend the Meech Lake accord to allow judges and lawyers from Yukon and Northwest Territories to be eligible for Supreme Court appointment. The move pushes the court into political debate and requires federal and provincial consent for any amendment.

Native exchange in works with Canada and South Africa

Robbery Suspect Held Faces Murder Charge

RCMP in Grande Cache hold Daniel Gingras for an Aug 14 armed robbery at Medicine Hat Safeway and will charge him with murder after an unidentified man was found shot in Edmonton. Gingras may plead to robbery. Edmonton police say charges depend on defense. Calvin Smoker is also named in the warrant. Wanda Woodward remains missing after Aug 14.
