A 330 pound black bear rode a log boom down the Fraser River after being spotted by a fisherman near Tree Island. Conservation officers chased the animal for about seven hours before tranquilizing it with four darts and releasing it by the highway to Harrison Lake.
Maurice Tremblay a 47 year old lawyer and Lotbiniere MP is charged with fraud over 1000 and breach of trust in an Ottawa case. He allegedly aided defraud the House of Commons of 5000 for a Mexico trip for six riding association members. He will appear in Ottawa provincial court on Sept. 10.
