Paris reports the Navy Ministry has ordered construction of a 35,000-ton battleship, the third such vessel under construction in French yards, intended to match other planned battleships of 35,000 tons.

Captain Thomas Kendrick, British passport officer in Vienna, arrived in London from Budapest after being charged by Germany with espionage and expelled. He refused to comment and said he must consult with the Foreign Office before any arrests or statements.
Reports say encephalomyelitis or horse brain disease is easing in most of Alberta but remains unchecked in the central region along the Lacombe Coronation railway line. Gadsby and Erskine areas report significant losses with many horses dying and large vaccine use.

Grants total £201 monthly for singles and £40 for married men with disabilities. 60 year olds most affected, 55-year limit removed, 1 200 added. Ontario and British Columbia lead in recipients with substantial annual sums.

The giant French seaplane, starting from New York Bordeaux France, departed at 1:45 a.m. M8.T. for an experimental flight to New York, with planned route via Lisbon and the Azores.
A French navy seaplane sank suddenly after landing in Cherbourg harbor. Three crew members drowned, three were saved. The accident occurred in Cherbourg on August 23 reported by C P Cable.
Alberta plans to submit a tax relations brief to the Dominion government this week. Solon Low said the document, prepared for a year, runs several hundred pages and will be distributed in about 10 000 copies to the public.
London reports suggest the Anglo American trade accord could grant the United States free access to British wheat markets.
