Fishermen Accept New One Year Contract in British Columbia

Salmon fishermen on the British Columbia coast voted 58.9 percent to accept a one year contract with the Fisheries Association of British Columbia ending a strike that began July 25. Wages and prices for sockeye, pinks, chums and large red springs were increased and shoreworkers and tendermen gains were set. The union says the strike lost its impact and tensions with the Native Brotherhood of B.C. remain after a jurisdictional dispute.

August Food Prices Edged Up Then Dip Reports CP

The Food Prices Review Board says food prices rose 1.5 percent in the first week of August and dipped slightly in the second week due to seasonal fresh vegetable declines.
