William "Wild Bill" Hunter is appointed sports editor of the Moose Jaw Times-Herald, succeeding Larry Lang who resigns Sept 10 to study at the University of Saskatchewan. Hunter has coached Medicine Hat Tigers, will manage Moose Jaw Mallards, and hosts a CHAB radio show.

World Convention Ends as 7000 Attend Communion

More than 7,000 people joined a mass communion at Maple Leaf Gardens closing the sixth day fifth world convention of the Churches of Christ Disciples. Keith Allan Jones of Melbourne led the service with officials from seven countries. Charles F. Green of Stockport and his wife were named world church leaders with Green elected president of the 1960 Edinburgh convention and his wife named president of a new World Christian Women's Fellowship Group.

Trapped Dutch Miners Freed From Willem Sophia Mine

Eleven Die in Weekend Accidents in the West

Eleven people died in western Canada over the weekend across British Columbia Alberta and Manitoba. Six died in traffic accidents two drowned one stabbed one fatally beaten and one asphyxiated.
