Team Ontario rushed onto the field after a 4-2 victory over British Columbia in the gold medal game at Athletic Park. Ontario defends their championship title with the win on Sunday night.

Ontario wins Canada Cup in back to back triumph

Ontario rested a 4-2 victory over British Columbia to claim the Canada Cup of Baseball at Athletic Park in the National Under 17 all star final. Pitcher Corey Pappel from Mississauga earned the win after entering in the fifth as Ontario seized the lead. Quebec defeated New Brunswick 11-1 for bronze while Saskatchewan beat Prince Edward Island 22-11 to avoid relegation. Alberta finished 0-5 with 18 errors and lost to Manitoba 11-7 in a late consolation game.

Parents misjudge child obesity says CMA head

Canadian parents misperceive their children's weight as 26 percent of under eighteens are overweight or obese yet only nine percent of parents acknowledge problems. Dozens of Taliban killed in Panjwaii battle

In Panjwaii near Kandahar a weekend clash between Taliban insurgents and NATO ISAF forces left 60 to 72 Taliban dead, with no Canadian casualties and up to seven Afghan police deaths. Lt Col Omer Lavoie said the operation aimed to secure Highway 1 and reduce insurgent capability.
