Manitoba guards return to work ending five day jail strike
Manitoba provincial jail guards and juvenile counsellors resumed duties after a five day walkout as a one year contract with the MGEA was announced. The deal includes about 11.5 percent average pay raises and training allowances. Strong quake rocks Indonesia Sumbawa kills 31
A massive quake in the eastern Indian Ocean caused a landslide on Sumbawa killing 31 people. The epicenter was offshore southeast of Jakarta with readings between 7.7 and 8.9 on the Richter scale. Aftershocks followed as authorities struggled to reach remote islands.
