Target on Pool Plan for Calgary City Parks 1960

The Calgary parks committee recommends overhauling city swimming facilities by replacing fill and draw pools with a filtration system. An expenditure of 36500 for sidewalks and filtration at the Rotary pool was referred to the finance committee for negotiation. Finance authorized the city comptroller to discuss backing expenses with Rotary officials. No agreement yet. renovations may start this fall and finish by spring opening if approved.

Irish KLM Crash Unsolved Despite Inquest Verdict

An inquest jury ruled the KLM Super Constellation deaths of 99 aboard off the Irish coast resulted from a violent Atlantic impact with no clear cause. Pathologist Dr John D Kennedy found no drowning, burns, or fire evidence. Shannon air traffic said radio transmission was distorted on arrival from Amsterdam.

Robbery at Standard Bank in Alberta Nets $4105

RCMP surrounded southern Alberta after a gunman robbed a Royal Bank of Canada branch in STANDARD of 4105 Monday. The masked man demanded cash at 2 50 pm, threatened teller Jim O Neill and fled in a car. no customers were present and employees saw little of the vehicle.

Rose Valley Saskatchewan mother of four clung by fingertips to the side of a 25 foot abandoned well for more than an hour after slipping in four miles west of Rose Valley. She saved herself, her sons fetched help, a rope and ladder were used, and she was treated for shock with good condition reported.

Ottawa to Allow CBC Unlimited Spending on Programming
