An Indian couple from Brooks, with two young children, accuse Medicine Hat landlords of racial bias that blocks them from renting. They describe repeated refusals after landlords learn of their race, despite initial willingness, and say they may leave the city. They note harsher discrimination than in Calgary or near Fort Macleod.
Police say three babies were found wrapped in brown paper in a seldom used freezer in Tofield. Patricia Florence Brown, 22, of Edmonton, is charged with disposing of a child’s body to conceal birth. Autopsy pending to determine timing and sex of the remains.
