Armed robbers hit Safeway on Division Avenue

Two men robbed a Division Avenue Safeway Friday night, one armed with a pistol, taking an undetermined amount of cash from a cashier. They fled on foot and were last seen near Sixth Street and Aberdeen Street S E. Police describe two 25 to 30 year old men of 58 to 72 kilograms with sandy blonde hair and varying heights. No injuries were reported.

Hat downpour makes Medicine Hat Alberta’s wettest day

A heavy rain in Alberta drenched Medicine Hat with 1.9 inches, the province’s worst and topping August's area average. Calgary and Lethbridge saw far less rain, while Medicine Hat did not break the 1896 one day record. Two Friday events were postponed but will proceed today including the Box Springs Rodeo first rounds and a Medicine Hat Blue Jays doubleheader against the Butte Copper Kings.

Public opinion split over refugee arrivals and fairness

Calgary researchers trace killer bacteria in foods

Public health workers in Calgary began weekly testing of meats dairy and other foods to trace a deadly E coli outbreak that has killed four Albertans this year.
