A severe storm traversed Saskatchewan and Manitoba causing minor damage to standing crops. Straw beds stood firm with isolated patches flattened. Farmers report resilient grain and expect full recovery before harvest.
A St. Petersburg telegram reported more than 100 fishermen and family members starved to death in Nova Zembia after a severe winter and frozen seas. A scientific expedition found skeletal remains, wrecked huts, and a diary describing desperate hunger and cannibalism. The last survivor writes of extreme feebleness and fear.
Winnipeg reports a west to east electric disturbance causing widespread damage to crops across central Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Moose Jaw to Regina saw early effects with storms, heavy rain and lightning. Telegraph and telephone lines were damaged complicating totals. no deaths reported and grain losses considered salvageable with warmer days ahead.

Officials insist no loan is promised until stock is paid, shares voted, and government consent obtained, safeguarding farmer shareholders and government interests.
