French blouse flannels in blue brown red and strawberry with neat spots and stripes, two blouse ends per design. Kid gloves in black and tan at 85c. Half price remnants on wallpaper. Duck shooting opens on the 28th with ammunition stock available.
The Medicine Hat club leads the western league and faces winner of Moose Jaw or Wolseley for the Taaffe trophy. Northwest association notes the Lacrosse Club will challenge for the Territorial championship, with Nelson and local teams planning return matches in September and regular practices urged.

London on holiday reports no trading while United States cattle sold at 12.4 to 12.8 cents per pound on Saturday and Canadians at 11.7 to 12.3 cents. Sheep quoted around 12 cents with slow activity. Liverpool prices show cattle 11 to 12 cents per pound and sheep 10.5 to 11.5 cents. Chicago World cable notes U S cattle steady after recent decline with Lambs and yearlings up to 15 cents and heavy sheep firm around 11.3 to 12.4 cents.
A household remedy guide notes that accidents happen unexpectedly and Griffiths Menthol Liniment stops burning and cools instantly. The advert praises its fast relief and cooling sensation and urges purchase at Cawker & Souch for 25 cents.
A Medicine Hat meeting of the Stock Growers Association addressed the outbreak among sheep on Canadian Land and Ranch Co. properties at Swift Current. Members proposed separate cattle and sheep districts for Medicine Hat and Maple Creek and planned to contact Dr. J. C. Hargrave and Dominion official Mr. Burley about quarantine measures and districting. They also urged the Canadian Pacific Railway to prune fire guards to prevent prairie fires threatening stock.
Last Thursday the vote on Waterworks By-law No. 47 passed quietly to authorize spending 10000 for waterworks extensions and connections. The tally showed a majority in favor with the exact for and against counts recorded, marking approval of the water system enhancements.
Crops are in full harvest in the district with oats barley and wheat yielding well. Jean Starks reports peak oats not seen before. P Robertson cut thirty acres of oats green for feed five feet high. Samson Dutton and Robt McCutcheon also bring in heavy crops. Stair Farm crews begin on sixty acres of oats with uniform yield and flax nearby showing good growth.
Mr. A. Cotton of Medicine Hat learned by telegram that his unit camps and stables were in danger of burning near Crow’s Nest. Flames destroyed the stables after a night of rapid telegrams. the camp and saw mill were saved, and Cotton continued west after securing supplies.
The hospital gratefully acknowledges a series of gifts including five dollars from R. S. Clayton of Josephburg, seventy one dollars from Medicine Hat Fire Brigade, flowers, vegetables, magazines, reading material, clothing, food items, and household goods from various donors such as Mrs. Pearson, Miss E. Clark, Mrs. Turnbull, Mrs. Nicolls, Mr. Ashley, Mrs. Johns, and others.
Inspected stock shipments list details from Walsh and Medicine Hat dates August 7 and August 11. Entries include multiple geldings mares and left or right shoulder or jaw measurements and monogram marks. Shipments originate from Walsh by J H G Bray and W H Nesbit and from Medicine Hat by Thos Watt.
Maple Creek Public School announced term ending June exams promotions in the senior department. Names include Dawson Dixon Lena Manzer Laura Auger Ris Dunne Annie Dixon Frances Ruby in Junior and Senior groups with several students advancing and passing the Public School Leaving examination. Parents are alerted to vaccination regulations for school attendance.

At a council session last Wednesday the Fire Brigade was re organized with fifteen willing youths present. The mayor indicated plans to hire an experienced fire chief and set up a new fire hall in the old Methodist Church with sleeping quarters and a hose tower. Officers elected include Chief McNabb Assistant Chief Cavandh Secretary Treasurer Tweed Captain Hose Company Hardie Captain Hook and Ladder Leonard Engineer Williamson. The brigade will practice on Thursday night and make its first run tonight.
