Edmonton Ontario? Court of Queen's Bench Justice James Cavanagh urged Labor Minister Ian Reid and Attorney General Jim Horsman to address alleged Alberta Labor Act violations by Gainers Inc. workers. Ten strikers were arrested for secondary picketing in front of a northeast Edmonton sausage plant as part of a larger protest by Local 280 P UFCW. Bomb rocks Markham shopping plaza injures none

A large blast at Markham Village Plaza damaged or destroyed about 20 stores in a $9 million shopping center on Highway 48. No injuries were reported. Police described the explosion as caused by a huge explosive device and noted windows breaking and a wall movement. The mall owner Manuel Elkind received a cryptic call after the blast.
