Italian assault on Jugargan Pass repelled in Somaliland

Cairo report says a general Italian attack on British positions at Jugargan Pass, supported by low-flying aircraft, was broken up by British artillery and small arms fire on August 11. Kuzma of Toronto and his brother survived a near fatal accident when a rear tire blew out on the Calgary highway fifteen miles west of here at about 7 50 p m Monday. The 1940 model coach rolled over and sustained heavy damage but no injuries were reported. The party had been driving in the mountains and were returning to Toronto.

Late bulletins report a Royal Australian Air Force plane departed Brisbane Monday and has not been heard from. It is believed to have fallen into the sea and the six crew members have drowned.

Torpedo Boats Duel In Night Action Off London

British motor torpedo boats engaged a group of larger enemy vessels in darkness near London. One British boat rammed an enemy craft while others opened fire at close range. A third boat hit two larger ships with machine guns and grenades. Additional torpedo boats repelled four attacking German planes, with no British casualties and only damage to the rammed boat.

Man Hunt For Farmer Kapty Near Waskatenay Alta

Ten RCMP constables and a trained dog hunted bushlands north and west of Waskatenay for 62 year old farmer Andrew Kapty who allegedly attacked his wife Domka with a carving knife. The wife survived after son George intervened with a baseball bat as Kapty fled into the brush. Kapty, born in Romania, faced a prior assault charge and was fined six dollars three months ago. Police suspected he headed toward Elscott 35 miles away.
