A Coast Guard cutter Point Welcome was strafed by three American warplanes in pre dawn near the Viet Nam coast about 35 miles northwest of Hue. The skipper Lt(jg) David Co Brostrom 25 of San Jose and Engineman 2/e Jerry Phillips of Corpus Christi were killed.
