Duty On Cattle To U S Increased Under Quota
The U S customs bureau said the duty on imports of cattle weighing 700 pounds or more under the Canadian trade agreement will rise from two to three cents a pound effective tomorrow. The three cent rate applies after the quota is exhausted this year. 145,670 head have been imported under the agreement through Aug 9, 93.5 percent of the annual quota. If the quota isn t exhausted by Thursday, duties collected above two cents will be refunded until the quota is filled.
