Calgary cabbie ordered to write training manual

Calgary judge ordered cab driver Asegde Bereket Abed to draft a training manual for drivers after he was convicted of sexual assault for hugging a female passenger. The 48 year old drove a 21 year old and her mother from a hotel to their home on August 21 2005 and was found to have inappropriately hugged the complainant prompting the call to police.

Lions aid Strathcona Island pond rehab in Medicine Hat

The Strathcona Island Pond rehabilitation will receive 125000 funding on Saturday from the Lions Club with support from the Provinces Community Facility Enhancement Program. The project totals 407000 and includes a liner. A 7 to 730 p.m. presentation on the pavilion deck will feature Mayor Vallely MLA Renner and Lions first VP Goldale.

Province updates AOPA rules for farming practices reform

Alberta regulatory amendments to the Agricultural Operation Practices Act aim to clarify the acts governing confined feeding operations. Changes include definitions for ancillary structures and protective liners, timing for manure storage and incorporation, and a new method for calculating minimum distance separation. Implementation starts Oct. 1 with details to be posted on the Alberta Agriculture and Forestry site.
