CALGARY Aug 11 More than 100 square miles of timber in one district have burned in Alberta foothill fires. The Castle River area blaze covers a vast tract with six major fires, including Kananaskis valley where a 12 mile timber tract set aside for a forestry station is out of control. Fire crews reinforce lines nine miles south of the forestry headquarters while enforcements deter fires at Trap Creek and Cold Creek. Fifty men battled the Trap Creek blaze, with 50 more en route. Fire near King Edward's EP ranch has moved six miles with an east wind but is not yet dangerous. New fires reported near the Red Deer river forestry station 60 miles northwest, with 10 drilling crew men drafted and 20 more sent today. The ranger station lies west of Didsbury. Little timber reaches market.
