A 60 year old man collecting fresh elephant dung in the remote village of Bokkos in northeastern Nigeria was trampled to death. The elephant wounded five others, two seriously, before soldiers shot the animal. The man sought the dung for use in traditional medicine. incident reported by the News Agency of Nigeria.
The death of Neil MacKinnon, 24, at Canadian Forces Base Suffield during a training exercise led to possible charges against several soldiers. An autopsy showed a bullet wound while the grenade battle reportedly caused the fatal blast. The father alleges a senior officer and two others face disciplinary action amid a board of inquiry into the incident.
The Metis Nation of Alberta signs an agreement with Alberta Justice to let Metis communities run their own justice programs including youth offender services. The pact, issued during the Metis Nation meeting in Medicine Hat, aims to address gaps in care and involve communities in setting priorities and administering health and social services related to crime.
