Cain wins Canada first Olympic canoe gold since 1936
Larry Cain of Oakville Ontario captured Olympic gold in the men's 500 metre singles canoe race at Lake Casitas California clocking 1 57.01 to beat Denmark's Henning Jakobsen 1 58.45 and Romania's Costica Olaru 1 59.86. Cain led after 150 metres and said his best phase was the middle despite a boycott weakened field.
