A head on collision between a Kansas City Southern streamliner and a troop train carrying 300 marines near Simmesport Louisiana killed at least 12 and injured 60 or more. Fire and wreckage delayed aid as officers and ambulances rushed to the swamp site 60 miles northwest of Baton Rouge.
