Premier E. C. Manning from Edmonton announced the dismissal of P. D. Dunc Hargrave, longtime superintendent of the provincial government horticultural station, for unsatisfactory administration. The action, effective Tuesday, ends 19 years of service.
Brooks Station confrontation centers on the dismissal of Hargrave a 49 year old horticultural official after an RCMP inquiry. Premier Manning says charges relate to misusing government equipment on his farm and citing a 30 sack cement incident. Assistant superintendent Shaw who resigned last November killed himself April 6 at the Brooks station cottage.
Brooks Alberta residents urge reconsideration of P D Hargrave's firing as manager of the Brooks Horticultural Station. In letters and telegrams to Premier Manning and Minister Halmrast, groups including the County of Newell the Kinsmen Club and the Board of Trade appeal for reversing the action citing his past service and community contributions such as Kinbrook Island Provincial Park and civic projects.

Pontiac AP report says Frank Kierdorf a Union Teamsters official died after Michigan Attorney General Paul L. Adams asserted he was burned in a Flint cleaning shop fire. Adams cited a secret witness who claimed explosions and cries of pain, and he named Herman Kierdorf as involved.
