Paris reports Roumanians delivered a harsh ultimatum to Hungary with a deadline of 8 p.m. demanding drastic armistice terms, half of harvest, farm equipment, railway supplies, Danube shipping, and army downsizing. Berlin and London dispatches note Budapest bombardment prior to Roumanian entry.
New York August 6 United Ites Food Products Corporation announced it bought the Sugar Products Company Pure Cane Molasses Co of the United States the Pure Cane Molasses Co of Canada the British Molasses Co of Great Britain and Tres Co of Great Britain. The entire purchase price was paid in cash. Tres Co owns five ocean tank steamers under the British flag and Sugar Products Corporation operates a fleet of 20 ships. The News Wanted column is the Shop window of the city.
Liverpool on August 6 shows tramway service suspended completely amid a strike wave that began with police objections and now includes tramway workers and bakers. Municipal workers voted to give 24 hours strike notice unless tramway demands are met, amplifying bread shortages and daily disruption.
The Reception Committee will distribute badges and tickets for ball games at the Nordeau Wall in the morning. The hall opens all day for 3rd CAMLR members and guests. An afternoon civic reception and banquet follow in the Curling Rink with a general meeting and two baseball games.

Alfalfa proves highly profitable for farmers who diversify from all-wheat crops, with four tons per acre and three crops yearly common.
