Wheat board foresees Western crop over 300 million bushels

W C Mc Namara chief commissioner of the Canadian wheat board told the Commons agriculture committee that Western Canada panned crop this year could exceed 300 million bushels down from last year by about 75 million. He noted drought may affect oats and barley more and that storage and export plans would hinge on reaching the target.

Living Cost Drops Sharply in June Across Canada

The consumer price index fell 0.4 points to 124.7 on July 1 from 125.1 on June 1, driven by lower food costs. Mishap Victim's Condition Good

A Thursday accident left Charles Falkins with a fractured pelvis and a fractured lower leg while crossing Third Street SE with groceries. Hospital officials report his condition as good. Ronald Berger, a child from 666 Eighth Street SE, was discharged after injuries from a separate incident involving a parked truck and a passing car. He sustained lacerations and shock.

Bus Plunge kills 1, injures 18 on Revelstoke highway

All Well Aboard Missing Plane Found Alive in Yukon

A California family of three missing for a week was spotted by an RCAF search aircraft beside their overturned Piper Tri-Pacer wreckage. Pilot E L Gregg his wife and daughter appeared hale and hearty near Smith River four miles north of the British Columbia Yukon boundary, east of Watson Lake.
