A Moscow style war report describes German troops moved from France aiding operations around Warsaw and the Narew river. Russians hold positions near Novo Gorod and along the Skrwa while German assaults falter and casualties mount on both sides amid European diplomatic concerns.
The court heard that Sour Belly and Mary Skunk, two Indians fined earlier, gave evidence against Mose Wilmot. Mary Skunk recanted her yesterday claim and said Wilmot supplied the liquor. The case adjourned to this afternoon as Wilmot sought time to call four witnesses and secure a lawyer. Wilmot employs Mr Beattie of Davidson and Beattie.
Edward Legere asserts in The Public and Pirate Life of Kaiser Wilhelm III that the Kaiser personally knew of and approved the Lusitania crime. The volume cites a letter from the Kaiser to a friend urging him to stop the son of an American benefactor from traveling to England by Lusitania.

Captain R B Davidson says D Company of the 68th regiment will depart Sunday for Sarcee camp. C Company, with Calgary ties, joins on Monday. A and B from Edmonton expected by August 20. Men praised as in fine shape after drill and platoon maneuvers. awkward squad eliminated.
Col Lowry of Calgary will lead the new regiment No 82 with Capt Morfitt as second in command. The announcement sets the leadership for the unit and names Morfitt to backstop the colonel.
The 650 000 suit Koehler versus Stoner Lockwood and Wheeler remains not resumed after a city hearing two weeks ago. Justice Simmons is expected to arrive by week’s end to hear counsel. Defendants’ counsel are A H Clarke and S Blanchard. plaintiff’s counsel W A Bege KC.
