Child drives car at 110 kph in Kansas chaos

A nine year old boy fled in a family car after an argument over chores with his father. A neighbor chased as the child reached speeds up to 110 kilometres an hour, passing traffic signs and brushing a surveyor before a head on crash at a busy intersection injuring no one seriously. The boy's seven year old sister was in the car, and the father had scolded him the night before. The boy's name was not released.

Marines land in Kuwait for desert training drills

U S Marines began landing thousands of troops in Kuwait for desert maneuvers one day after Iraq renewed claims to Kuwait. About 1 900 soldiers were to land for training only as Kuwaitis welcomed the Tarawa helicopter carrier and a U S security presence amid rising tensions with Iraq.
