Ottawa reports a two day ministerial arms talks in Washington failed to agree on a common rifle and ammunition. Defence Minister Claxton called the conference satisfactory and said a new round of small arms ammo should be adopted as soon as practical. A Nato standing group will study the issue for a decision within months.
