St John’s Mld Aug 4 The round the world flight by Jefi John Henry Mears in the City of New York ends in wreckage after a punctured tire. Both pilots Henry J Brown and Mears escape uninjured. The crash halted the Dublin leg before dawn as they sought a daylight take off.

Patchwork fix on R-100 fin sparked little alarm

At St Hubert Airport Montreal a British dirigible official told the Canadian Press repairs to the R-100 stabilizing fin torn near Jather Point Quebec were done from inside the envelope with little difficulty. The fin, four inches thick at its thinnest, required a crewman to lie across internal girders to reach the damaged area.

Plane Brought Hospital Patient To Medicine Hat

An Aeroplane from Burling, owned by the Aeronautics Corporation of Canada, flew from Moose Jaw to Medicine Hat to pick up Mrs Hank Miacgonale for an emergency operation at Medicine Hat General Hospital after a Calgary plate was unavailable. Pilot Ian Wagner and A M Sunstrome joined the flight amidst a gliding club tour, while a separate event saw newspaper men briefed on the R 100 airship mast inspection at St Hubert.
