July customs returns show a large rise over last year though officers deem it in line with national growth. The increase amounts to 6513.16 tied to goods for building and harvesting. Total customs collected this month reach 11429.19 versus 4915.04 in July 1910.
Aberdeen dispatch reports Pollock in Campbell County South Dakota wiped out by a large fire last night Telegraph and telephone communications are destroyed making full extent of damage unavailable Pollock population listed as 2650 at time of report.
Flames swept the St. Lawrence pulp and paper plant in Ottawa as hot air currents and dry tinder like conditions fed the blaze. Fifteen workers fled the building abandoning coats and valuables as the fire consumed the mill and its two hundred fifty tons of finished paper, causing about 25000 dollars in damage.

Miss Hazel Olive Wilson daughter of the late James Wilson and Mrs. Wilson of Montreal wed Duncan Elliott Alvas of Tunbridge Wells formerly Melbourne after a brief ceremony at St James church Piccadilly. Hugh B. McLauchlin, 22, accountant and teller at Molson's Bank Diamond City, was found dead in the rear room with a revolver beside him by Manager D C Morrison. Cause unknown. no irregularities at the bank. his mother in Ontario ill. he hoped to visit her and had just learned a relieving teller would come. He was popular, captain of the Diamond City baseball team, son of a Ontario cattle dealer active in politics.
Over 4,000 workers left Toronto this morning to join farm labor calls in the West. Five special trains with twenty coaches each carried the crowd amid precautionary police presence. Specials from Windsor and St Thomas also departed and will branch at West Toronto.
The Medicine Hat wheat harvest draws workers from far away including Kansas City Mo. and nearby towns. Starling and Byrne offer to supply harvest help on short notice. Farmers urge early hiring to avoid last minute shortages and extra pay.
Capt. S. C. Young, mayor of Fort William, praised Medicine Hat for civil improvements seen in the city. He applauded the progress and predicted growth in Medicine Hat would justify the ongoing expenditures.
Heavy rainfall soaks the Brandon district halting harvesting operations for several days. Farmers struggle to cut hay as a quarter inch of rain falls since yesterday afternoon with no sign of clearing.

London August 3 Dr J W Robertson chairman of the Canadian Governments Commission of Education says there is no need for Englishmen to be self-deprecatory. The commission which toured European educational centres acquired more knowledge in England and Scotland than in all other countries visited.
The W A P Dispatch reports in Port Arthur that a three cornered race forms across Thunder and Rainy River with James Conmee to again stand as Liberal candidate.
