Alberta Premier Hammers No Confiscation Promise at Rally

Alberta Communist party will not back the Social Credit government until transparency and caucus politics end. Provincial secretary Lawrence Anderson said officials asked communists to cooperate at a July 27 conference, but the board refused to reveal methods for the $25 monthly dividend.

Cattle From Drought Areas Move Toward Manitoba

Manitoba official says pooling plan will move Alberta and Saskatchewan cattle to grasslands in two weeks. About 50 000 head to Spruce Woods reserve within a month and up to 400 000 head expected to arrive before season end. Ottawa reports a new air mail service between The Pas and Herb Lake Manitoba about 95 miles apart will start around August 17. Service will run twice weekly in each direction, leaving The Pas for Herb Lake on Tuesday and Friday and returning the same days.
