Cattle Prices Slip as Beef Markets Turn Irregular

In London on July 23 trade in cattle stayed firm yet prices moved irregularly with Best States at 13 percent, choice Canadians at 134 cents, ranchers 11 to 12 cents. Sheep weakened with declines of 1 to 2 cents, 11 to 12 cents. Liverpool reports private cable pricing Canadian cattle at 12 1/2 cents and sheep at 11 1/2 to 12 1/2 cents.

Territorial Wool Crop Shortage Forecast

A. Leadlay of the Toronto Hide and Wool Co. in Winnipeg reports strong wool buyers including A. Carruthers Frank Lightcap Benson and an English house with a Boston branch. Wool sold at 1 to 12 cents per pound delivered to cars, mostly good quality, with healthier sheep and improved ranch handling. Maple Creek district wool coarser due to heavier mutton breeding.
