Montreal payroll bandits spray bank with deadly gunfire
Three gunmen in army uniforms held up an east end branch of La Banque Canadienne Nationale outside Hochelaga and Cadillac Streets. Lieut J J Marcel Ste Marie was shot twice in the left leg and once in the right while resisting. The payroll was seized from the attache case after the robbers fled in a white panel truck and a nearby car was later abandoned. A sergeant and a civilian employee were unharmed.
