City engineer Allan Gunter travels to Ottawa to meet Department of Transport officials about Medicine Hat's municipal airport. He plans to seek funds in the new budget for a new runway taxiway and ramp costing about 600 000 dollars. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday.

Joanne Gerke, also from Calgary, narrowly escaped when the slope collapsed toward her, recalling an avalanche safety tip moments before.
In Mimico a youth was found attached to a woman's closet wall after the woman's 15 year old daughter hid him there for three days. The youth was awakened, taken to court and ordered to stay away from the girl.
Medicine Hat faces a sharp tax rise as the education levy demands a provincial increase of 250 000 to 300 000 over last year. Mayor Harry Weiner vows court action and calls for Mayors to unite to contest the assessment while a finance committee meeting plans to reject bearing the burden.
